Letter from the Editor - First Issue
by Kyle Hudson
Thank you for reading our first issue! The paper you hold in your hand is the culmination of seven years of hard work from a team of extremely talented people. This project started in 2018 as West Chester Live, providing the first livestreams of government meetings in West Chester History, but since then it has become so much more.
Four years ago, when the Borough decided to end official livestreaming after the COVID Pandemic, my friend Bonita Tyes and I stepped back in to fill that gap and also provide recaps of events going on around town. This year, because of the hard work from Auciel Hicks, we were able to bring you a weekly newspaper.
Local news is more important than ever, and like it says in the masthead, it is our goal to keep our neighbors informed. So right here, I’m going to make a few promises to you. We will try our best to keep our opinions to ourselves, outside the sports section of course (Go Birds!). So don’t expect to see too many letters from the editor. Also, you can be sure that everything you see in our paper and on our show was made by real people, not AI. It is important that you can trust what you read here and on our show, so Bonita and I agreed at the beginning to not use any generative AI for our project.
Opinions are cheap, news is expensive, and to that end if we want to bring you the best quality news, we aren’t going to be able to do it for free. So thank you for purchasing our paper, if you like it, please consider becoming a subscriber. Also, if you are a local business that would like to advertise with us, we would love to work with you.
Launching a newspaper in 2025 is not an easy thing, but we promise to provide the highest quality news possible. We want to thank all of our distribution partners who helped us get this newspaper in front of you. 2026 is going to be a busy year, but we will be there, bringing you the truth, and with your support we can expand this project even further.
Thank you again, happy holidays!
